Margshala Foundation is a non-profit organisation building livelihood pathways for young people in the Western Himalayas. We work with rural youth aged 18–35 to strengthen local entrepreneurship and explore meaningful work without having to migrate.
Started in 2019, Margshala Foundation was founded to answer a simple but urgent question: how can we create real opportunities for youth in remote communities? Since then, we’ve supported over 2,000 young people through programs in entrepreneurship, career exploration, and sustainable livelihoods.
Initially incubated by the IABT Foundation, Margshala Foundation became an independent Section 8 non-profit in 2022, with a mission to build resilient, rooted futures led by youth themselves.
Our Journey Over Five Years

How We Work
We combine local knowledge with practical learning. Our programs are designed using principles of adult learning, peer support, and action-based reflection. Whether it’s the 6-month Swarozgar Fellowship or the 6-week Khojshala program, we keep three things at the heart of everything we do:

Building knowledge
and clarity

Grounding action in values and purpose

Learning by doing, testing, and building
Our learning spaces are rooted, inclusive, and designed to reflect rural realities.
