Seeking Purpose: Prelude to Passion

Naveen Chandra Joshi, a native of Pithoragarh, had a humble upbringing in a family where his father worked as a farmer, and his mother dedicated her time to being a homemaker. Naveen completed his education through 12th grade, after which he moved to Mumbai to explore the hotel management field, following in the footsteps of his older brother, who was already working in the field. However, the bustling hotel industry didn't quite capture Naveen's interest. Realising this, he made the courageous decision to return to Pithoragarh and began a search for his true passion.

Discovering Passion: Uncovering the Love for Video Editing

It wasn't long before he discovered his love for video editing. He joined a local video editing store, where he honed his skills and gained practical experience in the intricacies of the trade. In 2019, he took a leap of faith and established his own video editing store. The path to entrepreneurship was not without challenges, and Naveen took out a loan in his father's name to launch his venture. Remarkably, within two years, he repaid the loan in full, demonstrating his commitment and financial responsibility.

Charting New Horizons: Naveen’s Quest and Margshala’s Guidance

Naveen’s entrepreneurial journey took a defining turn when he came across Margshala Foundation through a WhatsApp message shared by a friend. Curious and hopeful, he applied to the programme and was invited for an interview. During the interaction, the team explored not only the details of his video editing business but also his long-term aspirations. His discipline stood out. He had repaid his loan ahead of schedule and carried a clear financial goal of saving at least one lakh rupees. This clarity and commitment reflected the seriousness with which he approached his work.

Recognising his potential, the team welcomed him into the Swarozgar Fellowship. His ambition to expand his video editing services while also building a training centre to teach others aligned closely with the Fellowship’s focus on nurturing responsible and growth-oriented entrepreneurs. Through the programme, Naveen received more than financial backing. He gained structured guidance on strengthening his operations and gradually transitioning from an informal setup into a more professional business entity.

The support he received enabled him to upgrade his infrastructure and improve his online presence, thereby reaching a wider audience. At the same time, he learned the importance of maintaining clear financial records and tracking customer relationships. These practices gave him better visibility into his business performance and helped him make more informed decisions.

As he continued to nurture his dream of teaching video editing, the Fellowship introduced him to the concept of a Minimum Viable Product. Instead of investing heavily at the outset, he was encouraged to begin small by conducting sessions through WhatsApp calls, collecting feedback, and refining the course before scaling it further. This approach allowed him to test his idea thoughtfully, minimise risk, and build confidence step by step.

Today, Naveen’s journey reflects not only growth in his business but also growth in perspective. With structured mentorship and practical tools, he has been able to move forward with clarity, resilience, and a stronger foundation for the future.

The Road Ahead

Beyond his dedication to video editing, Naveen's passion for music shone through. In addition to his video editing work, he produced music for various artists, demonstrating his versatility and creativity. Looking ahead, Naveen envisions expanding his video editing business while transforming his current music production venture into a top-notch production studio.

Margshala, recognising Naveen's commitment and potential, wishes him the very best in all his future endeavours, confident that he will continue to thrive as an entrepreneur and a creative force in the world of video editing and music production.
